Branding & Design

Brand work that survives the launch. We build the strategy, identity, and system pieces, then hand off something your team can actually run with.

Sapere Digital · Branding & Design
Overview

Branding & Design built for business.

Brand as a working system, not a moodboard. Strategy, identity, and templates that survive first contact with a live website, a deck, an invoice, and an OG image.

A brand is a working system, not a moodboard. We build the strategy piece first (who this is for, what it is not, the language it uses), then the identity, then the system pieces that let the brand show up consistently on the website, the deck, the OG image, the invoice. The reversed logo, the mobile splash, and the sticker sheet ship on day one, not week ten.

Signals it is time to invest

If any of these sound like your business right now.

  • Your logo exists as a screenshot in your co-founder's presentation and nowhere else in a usable vector format.
  • You have three different versions of your brand colour floating around and nobody knows which one is correct.
  • Your website, your deck, and your invoice look like they came from three different companies.
  • A new team member joins and picks up a pixel-off version of the logo from the last-used mockup instead of a source of truth.
  • Your competitors' logos are memorable and yours is not, and you cannot explain what specifically is wrong with the current one.
  • You have never had a written brand book, or the one you have was made years ago and does not cover mobile, dark mode, or social surfaces.
Approach

How we run a branding & design engagement.

  1. 01

    Positioning workshop

Two-hour working session to pin down who the brand is for, who it is not for, the specific problem it solves, and the voice it carries. The output is a written positioning statement plus voice guide. Every downstream design decision points back to this document.

  2. 02

    Identity exploration

Three directional concepts across logo, colour palette, and typography, each grounded in a different interpretation of the positioning. You pick one direction and we refine, rather than iterating in the dark against 'make it feel more premium'. Reversed logo variant and monogram delivered on day one, not week ten.

  3. 03

    System build

Design tokens (as code, not screenshots), templates for deck / document / social / email signature, and a small pattern library that covers the surfaces the brand actually appears on. Handoff kit ready for the next designer or developer to pick up without a call.

  4. 04

    Brand book and usage rules

One document your team can circulate, procurement can share with vendors, and future agencies can build against. Usage rules, clear-space diagrams, do-and-do-not examples, and a documented reason for every choice so the system holds up under new hires and vendor churn.

The first call

What we ask before we scope.

Every branding & design engagement starts with a discovery call, not a template quote. These are the questions we open with so both sides know whether the fit is real before anyone signs anything.

  1. Q01

Who is the audience this brand needs to work for, and who is it deliberately not for?

  2. Q02

What does the brand need to do that the current one is failing at (win credibility, unlock a pricing tier, feel modern, feel established, differentiate from a specific competitor)?

  3. Q03

Which surfaces does the brand actually live on today (website, deck, invoice, packaging, signage, social, email, physical space)?

  4. Q04

Are you doing a refresh (evolving the identity) or a rebrand (breaking with the old)?

  5. Q05

Do you have any equity in the current mark you need to preserve (customer recognition, colour association, name pronunciation)?

  6. Q06

Is there a specific event, launch, or business milestone the brand needs to land against, or is this a strategic refresh with no fixed deadline?

Pairs well with

How this fits with the rest of the studio.

Sapere Digital runs eight disciplines under one operating standard. Branding & Design lands harder when it is scoped alongside the practices it naturally reinforces.

Where we have run this

A real engagement that used branding & design.

Palais Builders, a design-led custom home builder in Oakville, needed a brand system that would read as a premium studio to a homeowner and as an established operator to a franchise buyer at the same time. We built a bespoke drafting-language identity from scratch: wine ink base, gold drafting lines, Cormorant titles with mono end-labels, a PB-monogram favicon carved from the source SVG, and a strict end-client privacy policy enforced at the code level rather than promised in a paragraph.

FAQs

Questions before you start.

Do I need a rebrand or a refresh?

A refresh is right when the strategy is still true: logo cleanup, tokenised colour system, refreshed templates. A rebrand is right when the audience has shifted, the offer has changed, or the current identity is undermining trust. We run a discovery workshop to decide before proposing either.

Can I just use a template or AI logo maker?

For a hobby side project, yes. For a business that will live under one brand for years, no. Template identities collide with thousands of others in the market and cannot be defended by trademark. AI-generated marks are legally uncertain and rarely survive a real strategy conversation.

What do we get at the end of a brand engagement?

Positioning workbook, primary logo plus reversed variant plus monogram, colour and type and spacing tokens (as design-system code, not just screenshots), templates for deck / document / social / email signature, a brand book with usage rules, and a handoff kit the next designer or developer can pick up.

How long does a brand project take?

A full brand identity project runs six to ten weeks. Strategy discovery lands in two weeks. Identity exploration and revisions take three to four. System build and template rollout runs two to three. We ship in weekly increments you can react to rather than a big reveal at the end.

Do you also build the website for the new brand?

Yes. Brand and website land better together. Building the site during the brand engagement means the identity is designed for the surfaces it will actually live on. We scope both under one engagement when you need both, or hand off cleanly to a partner developer if you have one already.
